We've had a couple more bits of feedback:
"very useful search option" from Violeta Ainslie at Cranstoun.

And this from Tessa Corner:
"I think the idea of adding Dual Diagnosis is very sensible for several reasons. The main one is that its often hard enough for people to ask for help as it is but the secondary diagnosis can make it even more difficult to come forward."

Given the broadly positive feedback (with some caveats), I wonder if we add it to the search, but have a tooltip to explain what is meant by dual diagnosis, so those not familiar with the term understand what it means.

Let me know what you think
thanks

Hi Fiona,
I can anticipate a lot of referrers using the dual diagnosis search option, as provision for complex needs has become an important issue in placing clients into rehab. I agree that just having a tick box for it does not define the severity of the cases that a rehab would accept, but if there was a search option then people could go to the individual rehab's information to get a more detailed picture of that.
Best wishes,
Fiona

Hello,
Whilst I agree that it would on reflection be a good idea, Experience has shown that the level of severity of someones mental health within that dual diagnosis is really important and I suggest that very few rehabs will be able to accomodated people towards the severe and enduring end of the spectrum, but could easily accomodate mild to moderate - really difficult to quantify in a search box?
Also dual diagnosis to the uninformed could actually mean more than one substance, so it's a difficult balance to strike - good luck with it though.

I had this comment from Kathrine at Foundation 66:

I think the ability to select single gender projects is good for care managers who may be working with victims of domestic violence, which tends to be one of the influencing factors for single sex choices.

Alcohol only option is still relevant I think for your traditional older drinkers who may not want to go to a mixed drugs and alcohol unit, also so few specialist alcohol places it would be good to highlight them in some way as they are still very much needed.

Hi Fiona
Thanks for your feedback.

We'll review the providers' page and see if there is anything we can do to improve it.

Hi Fiona,
I could see a place for these options. Some clients want a mixed setting, so a project that takes women but is not female only would be the right call. Other clients, both male and female, particularly want a single gender project, so I think the options you have created work.

On a completely different topic, the providers' page, it would be very helpful to be able to see more lines of text rather than only 3 in the boxes for describing the service and what it offers - it would really help to be able to view what one is writing. I wonder, would it be possible for a selected box to expand while an entry is being made so that the provider can see the entirety of what they have written? It could then reduce again afterwards, to allow the current view of a number of different boxes.
Thanks a lot,
Fiona
