Advanced search
Please find proposed search criteria for the advanced search page below.
We need to find the line between giving enough criteria to enable users to do meaningful searches and having so many criteria that users get confused and give up.
So please can you have a think about:
1. What are the core criteria you NEED to be able to get to the stage of calling/being called about a referral?
2. Is there any information on this page that is not COMPLETELY necessary for you to be able to find a project?
From here, you will link to a list of the projects that meet the requirements, which will then give complete details of each project and is far more in depth than the search criteria provides.
Many thanks again for your help.

Hi Fiona,
In my experience, the term ‘vacancies’ can be misleading as the vacant bed position in a project can change daily and there is (nearly always) an assessment process to be undertaken prior to acceptance/admission. Even if the website is updated daily with ‘vacancy’ criteria from each project, it will never be truly accurate and so I wonder if it is ‘completely necessary’in this section?
Thanks
Sue
Hi Sue
thanks for your comments on vacancies. From the workshops we ran, vacancy information was regarded as core even though, as you say, there will inevitably be an assessment prior to admission.
I hope that helps explain.
thanks
Fiona
Hi there,
Firstly, within the advanced search function I would expect to be able to search for a rehab that has disability friendly facilities. also where ‘mutual aid’ (NA, AA, CA) is available / expected.
I presume that all drug, alcohol and detox tick boxes can be ticked together. Also of some use if there was space would be a ‘cost band’ – very useful for someone self funding.
I wonder if the star rating is going to work. Although I kind of think it could be a good idea, who decides how many stars a service deserves and how are they allocated – clearly it would have to be outcome based but which outcomes are the important ones – someone who completes the programme drug free, someone has attended college, someone has ceased or reduced their criminal behaviour etc…
Not being a carer myself, I personally see little benefit in having a family services button as there is no universal definition of what that actually means so I would remove that option and have an illustration of some kind a bit like on a hotel booking website telling you what’s available at each rehab – just a thought.
I think the vacancy search must stay somehow as unless you can establish at least the strong possibility that there maybe a vacancy somewhere whats the point of this website? Clearly there would be a need to confirm any listed vacancy by telephone anyway.
Thanks,
Andy
Hi Andy
Thanks for your comments.
Yes, it would be possible to tick both drugs and alcohol.
As Fiona says below, the CQC regulates the star system.
Regarding the family services selection criteria – could you give me an example of what you mean from a hotel booking site?
Many thanks
Fiona
Hi Fiona,
I agree that we need to be able to tick as many of the Drugs, Alcohol, Detox boxes as we want to.
CQC (Care Quality Cammission) determines the star rating and a lot of referrers will only use 3* rated facilities, so I do think it is definitely worth leaving this in.
I would like to see an added search facility for Dual Diagnosis.
On the links, I would prefer ‘Find a Rehab’ to ‘Find Rehab’ as it suggests being able to find a specific one as opposed to just having a general look.
Best wishes,
Fiona Trim
Hi,
I realise that this is suppose to simplify the system as much as possible. It already has the look of an hotel or a holiday booking site.
I feel that there is not enough on it..
For instance are there El Al (sorry about my spelling,) or other catering requirements for instance people with allergies to wheat germ.
There is no mention of single or mixed sex establishments, or of in house detox facilities.
I would be interested to know who decides on the star rating.
As a carer I feel that it should be included somewhere. For instance a local rehab provides carer counseling.
It’s just that I feel that this should be a first page, rather than the basic search engine.
Regards Neil
Hi Neil
Many thanks for your comments. Some of the information that you are asking about will be included in the details of each project – e.g. any special catering arrangements. This should become clearer when I can show you what the information will actually look like after you have done a search.
My experience of enabling more detailed search is that if we offer too many options, then you may end up with no results at all – which is a very frustrating experience. However, there is a definite balance between not enough and too much, as you say.
The Care Quality Commission is responsible for inspecting and awarding the star ratings. For more information, you can go to their site: http://www.cqc.org.uk
The advanced search has a checkbox for in house detox, so you should be able to search for this quite easily.
Many thanks
Kind regards
Fiona
Hi
I agree with Neil on the issue of family services – there is a wide range of services which could be described as such, potentially from family being allowed to visit, through to family interventions (with the whole family) on specific days or visits, or whole families being in rehab together when the children are small.
However, you could probably boil this down into only 3 or 4 categories of family involvement / intervention. This would probably be more useful than a generic description of “family services”.
Dan
Hi Dan
Thanks for your feedback. We do have some specific categories for the family services options, e.g. children can visit/stay etc. which will show up on the description of each project, as well as a free-text field so each project can give some more information here.
Having just one option to select on the search should help narrow the results down enough so that a user can then browse the results and find what they are looking for.
Does that answer your concerns?
Many thanks
Fiona
