We are delighted that the CareKnowledge stakeholder engagement programme in Suffolk County Council has gone live today. Suffolk aims to provide a voice for all involved through this online community for council staff and partner agencies.
Comprising a collection of interactive media, such as videos, blogs, presentations and articles, the online community empowers staff to comment on, discuss and debate topical issues such as Government initiatives or departmental news.
Mel Cassedy, strategic business manager, adult and community services, Suffolk County Council explained: “A key priority of ours is to deliver communication pathways beyond expectation; traditional text-based newsletters are no longer adequate. Keeping pace with the private sector we must embrace the powers of technology and look to 21st Century media. The large majority of our staff engage with social networking on a daily basis and so we want to bring this to the forefront of our operations.
“We hope that our entire workforce will become actively involved in the project by providing them with highly engaging content, For example, new staff can access induction videos, and employees can comment on videos and presentations of road shows and events that they may be unable to attend due to other commitments. Furthermore, we are keen to upload contributions from our partners such as Age Concern Suffolk, to provide a community wide approach.”
Andrew Chilvers added: “During our initial six month project with Suffolk County Council we will provide support and advice to develop online content, editorial and a ‘community’ feel for the platform.
“Local authorities nationwide are experiencing dramatic transformations. Engagement portals, such as Suffolk’s, enable stakeholders to share information, voice their opinions and collaborate. We hope that the platform places staff at the forefront of communication in the public sector.”
